Balrog of Morgoth
Since she is one of the biggest Lord of the Rings nerds i know, i sculpted this little corrupted Maia, a Balrog serving Morgoth, as a birthday gift in 2019.
The dark fire will not avail you, flame of Udûn!
This idol is an homage to one of my favourite stories in fiction “The Call of Cthulhu” by H. P. Lovecraft. It is described as “carved from a mysterious greenish-black stone” and showing a being of a “bloated corpulence, and squatted evilly on a rectangular block or pedestal”. This is actually the third version i made. The first one haunts the homestead of one of my closest friends and the second version (see top right) was inspired by a reference picture from ages ago.
No, not the yard game. These gals and guys are the prototypes for small figurines i plan on duplicating using resin and then assemble me own custom viking themed chess board! The pawns and rooks do need an update beforehand though!
